Demographics of World War I: The Seen and Unseen

The seen: over 40 million military and civilian deaths that occurred during World War I. The unseen: marriages that didn't happen and children who were never born. Join us to hear St. Louis Fed economist Guillaume Vandenbroucke present his research about the demographics of World War I. Economic Education Specialist Eva Johnston will share teaching tools from FRASER®, a digital library of economic history.

You will learn about:

  • Population pyramids

  • The opportunity cost of war

  • World War I-related primary and secondary source materials for project-based learning in FRASER

Dinner and parking validation will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required by Oct. 4, 2022.
